Bomb Flower Seeds are items that are occasionally dropped from bomb flower plants when fully destroyed, or occasionally dug up by Sniffers when they finish digging.

Bomb Flower Plants are slow-growing plants that can occasionally be found growing near underground lava lakes. The rate at which Bomb Flower Plants grow depends on the light-level and "heat", with lower light levels and higher temperatures leading to faster growth. When a Bomb Flower is fully grown, it can be lit by flint and steel, stray fire, flaming entities, flaming projectile or explosions.

When lit, the bomb on the plant will detach and produce an explosion after a small period of time. The explosion produced by the bomb will only destory cracked.

If a bomb flower plant is struck by lightning or is in close proximity to a lightning strike, the plant will become a Charged Bomb Flower Plant.

Charged bomb flower plants will produce charged bomb flowers rather than regular bomb flowers. Charged bomb flowers that are primed will destroy blocks with their explosion in a similar manor to TNT, and will cause killed mobs to drop their heads. After a charged bomb flower is harvested or Ignited, the plant will lose its charge and revert back to a regular plant.

Obtaining

Natural generation

Bomb flower plants generate underground from levels 50 to -64, being more common in the lower elevation. They will not generate if they're not next to an underground lava lake (within a 5x3x5 range of lava).

Breaking

Bomb flower plants can be mined instantly with any tool or by hand. A Mature bomb flower plant yields 1 bomb flower, or 1 charged bomb flower if the plant is charged. Bomb flower plants will always have a 10% chance to drop 1-2 bomb flower seeds. The drop rate of bomb flower seeds is unaffected by Fortune

Harvesting

Bomb flowers (or charged bomb flowers if the plant is charged) can be collected from a bomb flower plant by pressing the use control on it. After dropping the bomb flower on the ground, the bomb flower plant reverts to its first growth stage.

Sniffers

Sniffers occasionally bury their nose in the ground and start digging. Once the sniffer has finished digging, there is a chance for one bomb flower seed to be dropped as an item instead of a torch flower seed or pitcher pod.

Sniffers can dig for bomb flower seeds in the following blocks:

• Podzol
• Coarse Dirt
• Rooted Dirt
• Moss Block
• Pale Moss Block
• Mud
• Muddy Mangrove Roots

Usage

Placement

Bomb flower seeds can be planted on stone, deepslate, or any other stone or stone-like blocks given that the position is nearby to lava (specifically within a 5x3x5 distance). The bomb flower seeds will create a bomb flower plant which will eventually grow to full maturity.

Growth

A bomb flower plant goes through 4 stages after it's planted, with the final stage yielding a bomb. If the plant isn't within 5 blocks horizontally or 3 blocks vertically to a lava source, it will not grow. Additionally, the rate at which the bomb flower grows depends on the exposure to light or "heat" of the current dimension. The probability of it growing can be calculated with the formula 100 * (0.1 - (skylight - 8) / 250), with the chance being checked every random tick (every 68.27 seconds). If the dimension is hot, like the nether, the bomb will have an additional 5% to grow added on top of the base chance.
